The Mercedes-Benz W112 was the top line in a set of "Fintail"-bodied series of cars (along with the W110
and the
W111) built in the 1960s. Introduced in 1961, it had 3 versions: the 300 SE Sedan,
300 SE Coupé and
300 SE Cabriolet. The line was supposed to replace the
Type 300 but instead the
600 "Grand Mercedes" became Mercedes-Benz's flagship line.
The 300 SE Sedan was given a long wheel base version, the 300 SE long Sedan, in 1963. Both sedans were replaced in 1965 by the new top-of-the-line sedan, the
300SEL (W109).
